Introducing the Story Changes Culture Newsletter

By Jennifer Cloer
Excerpted from debut newsletter

I’m excited to share our new Story Changes Culture platform, designed to elevate voices that might not otherwise be heard and to provide a space for individuals, companies and communities to produce and amplify stories that can change and transform the world in which we live. We’re expanding the work we started with the Chasing Grace Project to rethink the future of technology, media, advocacy and the workplace. We do this by telling stories that inform, inspire, transform and disrupt.

The stories we consume and tell ourselves have great power in shaping our opinions, values and behaviors. That is why they can change culture over time. It has never been more important to elevate stories that matter because:

  • We must make space for new and important voices to be seen and heard. Through our work on the Chasing Grace Project, we experienced first-hand the power of story to transform individuals, companies and communities. Story Changes Culture will expand the stories we tell and how we tell them.

  • Misinformation is one of the most dangerous issues facing the free world. It can seem like we’re living in different realities from our friends, family or colleagues because the stories each of us are consuming inside our bubbles are informing our reality - and not all those stories are based in facts. Story Changes Culture addresses this with the Hyped podcast, produced in partnership with marketer and author Amanda McPherson, and through its communications work with individuals, companies and communities.

  • Technology has an increasingly direct impact on all of our lives. So as we experience exciting advancements in Artificial Intelligence and 5G, for example, combined with concerns over digital security and privacy, clear and transparent communications about how we’re building and delivering technology is more important than ever. It’s no longer just about speeds, feeds and code; it’s about you and me and the world we want to live in.

I hope our newsletter can give you something I haven’t found anywhere else, a place to observe and understand the connections between story, culture and technology. It’s never been more important to connect the dots - between what is happening in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and society.

We produce independent storytelling projects, counsel clients that seek to contribute to a better world through compelling and inclusive story, culture and experiences, and we host a community where everyone’s story is valued.

I hope our newsletter can give you something I haven’t found anywhere else, a place to gain insights and further our collective thinking on the connections between story, culture and technology the connections between story, culture and technology. It’s never been more important to connect the dots - between what is happening in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and society.

I invite you to join us, work with us and follow us to learn more about virtual and in-person events (as CDC guidelines allow) and new programs such as the Story Changes Culture Book Club and Letters. But most importantly, I invite you to share your story here. We’ll debut new stories every month in this newsletter, and those stories will be hosted on this platform.
